The Yellowstone Academy Guild welcomes all who would like to join us in our efforts to support Yellowstone Academy. Our Guild year runs from June 1 to May 31, but there is still time to join! Levels of membership are:

Friend- $35
Patron-$50
Silver-$150
Gold - $500
Life Membership - $1,500

At Yellowstone Academy, we strive to foster the cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development of children according to their ability and with respect for their individual differences. Teachers provide a safe, secure environment of trust in which each child can learn. At Yellowstone Academy, we believe that PK and elementary aged children learn best through child-centered, hands-on experiences, using a creative, center-based curriculum to accommodate a variety of different learning styles. Our staff also endorses family involvement because we believe it is critical to a student’s academic success. Yellowstone Academy is committed to continuous improvement as our school enables students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners in today’s society.

Founded in 2003, the purpose of the Yellowstone Academy Guild is to support students, faculty and families of Yellowstone Academy with funds from annual membership dues and a spring luncheon. The Guild provides volunteers and funds for special projects at the request of Yellowstone Academy. The Guild also plans and purchases supplies for classroom parties and hosts teacher luncheons four times per year. Corporations, foundations, organizations, and individuals are invited to help underwrite the cost of a classroom, providing the funds needed for uniforms, two meals/day, and transportation to and from school for 16 students. Classroom sponsors will receive permanent on-site recognition and will be invited to attend various classroom and school-related events. Take a Tour on Tuesday

Beginning on Tuesday, March 2, lunch and school tours will be offered from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month. You needn’t sign up in advance. Just grab some friends, co-workers, church members, or neighbors and enjoy a box lunch with our students in the cafetorium and a guided tour of the school with a staff member. You may come to the cafetorium any time within the two hour time-frame and stay for as brief or as long a time as you’d like. We are hoping that this new endeavor will allow our current supporters to introduce Yellowstone to their circle of friends and associates. Let’s not keep the wonderful work going on at Yellowstone a secret! Come one, come all!

Meet Terry Lana

Terry is a 6th grade Social Studies teacher who also coaches Pre K-6th grade physical education. Prior to joining Yellowstone, Lana was the JUMP director at Second Baptist Church of Houston. She graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, Early Childhood-Grade 4. "I am thrilled to be called to the ministry that Yellowstone Academy represents," says Lana.

Meet Katie Tewart

Katie Tewart teaches 6th grade Mathematics, Science, and Bible. This is her second year at Yellowstone Academy after teaching 4th grade last year. She was a high school Geometry teacher in Katy ISD for three years prior to coming to Yellowstone. Katie holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Religion from the University of Southern Mississippi where she played on the varsity soccer team. She and her husband live in Katy, Texas, where they attend Grace Community Church.

Meet Alette Patterson

Alette Patterson joins Yellowstone Academy as 6th grade Language Arts, Science, and Bible teacher. She is a graduate of Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Alette is a member of Mount Corinth Baptist Church where she enjoys using her gift of dance in praise and worship. Alette says, "I am excited about joining the Yellowstone family to instill wisdom and the love of God in each student."

Gifts-in-Kind Policy It is the policy of Yellowstone Academy to accept donations of goods and services that help fulfill the organization’s goal to provide a high quality education in a supportive Christian atmosphere. Purpose The purpose of this policy is to establish procedures for the acceptance, recording and acknowledgement of the donation of goods and services to Yellowstone Academy. Definition A Gift In-Kind is a voluntary contribution of goods and services that can be used to advance the mission of Yellowstone Academy. Shepherd A Child

Students at Yellowstone Academy will receive a first class education, but we also want them to learn responsibility, character, and self-reliance. One of the best ways to make this happen is for a mentor or shepherd to invest time, guidance, and love in a child.

The Shepherd-A-Child Program is administered in cooperation with Houston churches. You must be an active member of a local Christian church in order to be a shepherd. Our goal is for each child at Yellowstone Academy to be matched with an individual or family who will connect with that child in a positive way and play a role in educational and social enrichment.

Shepherds will commit to meeting with their child at least once a month during the school year. The visit may entail something as simple as going out for a meal or to the park, or may include a trip to the museum, a sporting event, or one's place of business. The goal is to show our children a larger slice of the world they live in.

Shepherds help introduce Yellowstone kids

to the larger world around them.
